Staff Training

Telephone Befrienders are highly trained. They need to be. We don´t know what situation we´ll meet when w make a Good Morning call — from a member losing a loved one or being told that their cancer has returned, to someone who has thoughts of suicide.

We go beyond the introductory level of effective communication skills and train staff in mental health awareness eg Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, safeTALK and Mental Health First Aid, and how to communicate with someone with dementia.
